Where’s My Bucket

How to tap into state and federal funding and stretch your training budget!

Do you remember the days when you took last year’s training budget and added a small percentage to get approval for this year’s budget? Those were the same days my local car wash would see me pull up every week.

Those days are gone.

Today I ask “where’s my bucket?” This is the first step I take to wash the car myself.

In many organizations today if training is not a customer or regulatory requirement it likely won’t happen. As you know it is difficult at best to demonstrate training’s return on investment and even if you can, the costs are still “fronted”. An alternative to hoping for a training budget, is to create one yourself. This can be done through State and Federal funding. There are “buckets” of money available for training, if you know how to identify and tap into them. In this presentation we will discuss how to do just that.  Specifically we will discuss:

  • Applying for State Funding
  • Searching and Identifying Federal Grant Opportunities
  • Existing Resources
  • Current Examples

Most employers recognize the value of training, however, the costs associated with a comprehensive training program may seem too great for a company to absorb.

At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to begin the process of finding your “bucket” of training funds.
