President - Alan Landers

Alan is VP of Training & Development for Guidance Residential, a nationwide mortgage corporation, responsible for training, recruiting, and sales lead generation.  He is an executive-level OD, HR, L&D professional with over 30 years of experience.  Alan has headed his own consulting firm for over 15 years and conducted advanced workshops in organizational development and learning development around the world. His consulting clients include many Fortune 500 companies such as: General Motors, AT&T, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Dun & Bradstreet, Texas Instruments, HJ Heinz, and others. He has conducted executive-level seminars at major universities across the country including: Southern Methodist, Texas A&M, Washington State, Auburn, Michigan State, and San Diego State, among others.

President Elect - Grace L. Judson

After 25 years in the corporate world, Grace Judson left her executive position without a backward glance to become self employed.  Bringing with her what she’d learned about leadership, teamwork, and the importance of clear, empathic communication, she founded her company, Svaha Concepts, in 2005.

She combines her corporate experience with strong writing skills and an intuitive understanding of her clients and their work to help small business owners and independent professionals discover and develop the unique, authentic voice of their businesses.  As her tagline says, “If it’s written – I can help!”

Grace has been involved with ASTD San Diego since 2008, facilitating the North County Meet & Mingle for over three years, founding and leading the Independent Consultants’ Special Interest Group, and serving on the YTTL Committee for two years running.  She won the Volunteer Rookie of the Year award in 2008, and the Distinguished Service Award in 2010.  She’s currently serving on the ASTD San Diego Board of Directors as Membership Director.  Her BA degree in Writing is from Bard College in New York.

Past President - Catherine Mattice

Catherine Mattice specializes in designing and realizing positive corporate cultures through universal solutions and systemic action plans. Through her business, Civility Partners, LLC, Catherine provides consulting and training in the areas of interpersonal communication and conflict, organizational communication processes, and strategic culture change. Catherine is an SME on the topic of workplace bullying and has appeared on several major news stations, presented her research internationally, and published several articles on the topic. Catherine is also an adjunct at National University and Southwestern College, where she teaches communication and business management courses. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in communication from San Diego State University, and is also an active member of the International Association for Workplace Bullying & Harassment.

CFO - Constantine “Tino” Bautista

Inspired by a misspent youth watching Fantasy Island and the Love Boat, Constantine Bautista has become a hospitality industry veteran of 21 years and currently serves as a training consultant with the U.S. Navy. With his thorough understanding of  training & talent management, he is part of a team that is facilitating a precedent setting, culture building initiative for naval bases worldwide.  
Prior to his work with the U.S. Navy,  Mr. Bautista was employed as the Director of Organizational Development & Training for Ace Parking Management, Inc., a National Training Manager with Signature Worldwide, a restaurant manager with the Tennessee Restaurant Company, and held various positions including revenue manager and corporate sales manager with Hilton Hotels and InterContinental Hotels Group. 

Constantine attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island where he studied Hospitality Management. When he is not working, he can be found pursuing his other passion, art and painting.

Marketing Director - Mark Lakatos

Mark Lakatos has been involved with training and organizational development for more than 12 years. His training and OD experience includes industries such as technology, customer service, and higher education. Mark was also responsible for large scale training functions during his four years of military service. Currently, Mark is the Manager of Organizational and Talent Development for National University providing training and other OD support for over 1400 employees across the U.S.  Mark holds an MBA specializing in Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Management from National University.

Technology Director - Robin Martin

Robin Martin holds a BA in French and an MA in Educational Technology, both from San Diego State University.  He is currently the Multimedia Producer and Developer for Mission Federal Credit Union, creating video and web content in the Marketing department.  Prior to that he served as AVP of The Learning Center at Mission Federal, wearing many hats: instructional designer, training manager, and strategic partner to internal stakeholders.  His experience with learning technologies runs the gamut from computer lab design and administration to multimedia production and web development.  While regularly an advocate of e-learning he has also been a lecturer at SDSU and Coleman University and believes in the value of a rich classroom experience.

Professional Development Director - Gabriela Alvarez

Gaby holds a BA in Business Administration, an MBA in Organizational Development, and obtained her CPLP in 2009.  Gaby has over 15 years of experience within training and development. She currently works for USE Credit Union as the Training and Development Manager, her primary focus is strategic training planning, training project management, training design, development and implementation.  The training programs she oversees include operations, lending, customer service, compliance, sales, performance management and leadership for employees in the corporate office departments, call center and 8 branches.  Prior to this role, Gaby was the Training and Development Manger for the United Airlines Reservations center in Mexico City.  Gaby has served the ASTD San Diego board of directors for 4 years.

Programs Co-Director - Mary Jane Riccardi

Mary Jane has over 25 years of experience in providing learning systems and programs. She is recognized for meeting business needs by understanding organizational strengths and constraints, and providing solutions that demonstrate tangible results. She has a BS in Business Management and an Executive MBA from San Diego State University. As Sr. Learning & Development Manager at Kleinfelder, Mary Jane creates and leads a systematic approach to learning and development initiatives at all levels of the organization. She assesses, identifies, and develops training solutions. Mary Jane also plans and facilitates leadership development and succession planning processes and systems. Prior to Kleinfelder, Mary Jane worked for 30 years at Bose Corporation® supporting their manufacturing operations in the US, Ireland and Mexico. At Bose she worked in technical skills training, supervisor and management training, competency modeling and was responsible for manufacturing leadership's succession plan.

Programs Co-Director - Carol Sheckler

Carol Sheckler, PHR, currently serves as a Corporate Training Specialist and HR Consultant.  She has over 24 years of healthcare management experience with expertise in health promotion, continuing medical education and her true passion - corporate training.  Carol has developed and facilitated unique, interactive and engaging programs in the areas of customer service, effective communication, and leadership skills. Her clients include a variety of San Diego organizations including Sharp HealthCare, Vista Community Clinic, and California State University San Marcos in addition to K-12 schools, medical device companies and union trades. Carol is a certified Crucial Confrontations™ trainer through Vital Smarts.™ In 2011, she received her Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

As a Toastmaster International member since 2009, Carol currently serves as President of the Tick Talk Toastmasters Club in Carlsbad and was awarded first place at the 2011 Area 18 International Speech Contest.

Secretary - Kevin Mayfield

Kevin Mayfield, M.S., works for the National University system supporting internal staff leadership development, system wide talent management, and general H.R. projects.
Previously he was a training & development consultant for small and medium sized businesses as part of outsourced H.R. services provided by Insperity, a national Professional Employer Organization.   With a 10-year background in retail management he aspires to make the challenge of managing others easier and more successful for leaders with learning and performance interventions that include training, coaching, teambuilding, individual assessment, and performance appraisal redesign. Kevin holds a Masters’ degree in industrial/organizational psychology, which included an internship in city government.  He has his national PHR certification in human resources and BCC certification in workplace coaching. He also teaches customer service through UCSD Extended Studies.

Communications Director - Jacqueline Sirota

Founder of Jacqueline Sirota Learning x Technology Solutions, Jacqueline has over 20 years of experience in designing and developing instructor-led (ILT), virtual instructor-led (vILT), and e-learning programs (including train-the-trainer) for a variety of industries, including software and hardware engineering, finance, biotechnology, medical devices, consumer electronics, manufacturing, restaurant operations, healthcare, and government. Jacqueline understands and applies the principles of adult learning and uses proven instructional design practices so that learners are engaged and able to transfer learning back to the workplace. Jacqueline is a certified project management professional (PMP) as well as an adjunct at the University of Phoenix, where she teaches communication, professional development, and business information systems courses. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and her Master’s degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University.

Membership Director - Jasmin Lucy

Jasmin Lucy, SPHR, GPHR, is a multilingual and culturally experienced Human Resources and Organizational Development Leader with a solid track record of creative solutions for Human Capital challenges and partnering with managers in building performance and innovation cultures.  She is a former Diversity & Inclusion and Global Talent Development Manager with Daimler/ Mercedes-Benz in Germany, and currently serves as Talent Management Project Manager for the UC San Diego Health System.  Her areas of expertise include HR strategy, organizational and talent development, diversity management, and global mobility.

Jasmin holds a Master's equivalent degree in International Business and Cultural Studies.  She is a certified Business Coach from the Institute for Systemic Coaching in Wiesloch, Germany.  In 2011 she received both her Certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). She presently serves as a board member for the San Diego chapter of the National Human Resource Association (NHRA), and the San Diego OD Network.

Conference Director - Justin Gittelman

Justin Gittelman is the Founder and CEO of The Gittelman Group, a professional learning and development organization headquartered in La Jolla, CA.  His business growth application, "Whole Mind Thinking - Increasing Performance, Creating Alignment is a corporate training program that increases individual performance while creating organizational alignment.  His research and applied expertise in the fields of personal development, sales training, management development, leadership studies, organization development, executive coaching, and the contemplative neurosciences position him as a unique and very impactful speaker and business trainer.  He assists senior leadership, executives, and learning teams in re-calibrating their organizational setting by aligning an increased awareness to their strategic vision, business applications, and revenue generating sources leading to sustained growth and profitability. Justin’s background includes participatory success within world class training and development organizations such as The Anthony Robbins Companies, Dr. Paul Hersey's - Center for Leadership Studies, Trainingscape, Phil Harkin's - Linkage, Dr. Bob Nelson's - Nelson Motivation, Jeffrey Gitomer's - Train One, and Marshall Goldsmith's – Stakeholder Centered Coaching Model.  Throughout his professional career, Justin has always led the pack within sales leadership and revenue-generating teams, including serving as Regional Director for Trainingscape in Washington, D.C. In this executive position, he implemented effective management consulting strategies that generated over $25 million in revenue in less than one year for a customer.
