Janice Trantham, besides being acknowledged across the Chapter on an individual basis as an exceptional mentor, she has the unprecedented honor of being nominated by an entire committee – the Mentor/Protégé committee. Some of the comments regarding Janice are:
She took charge out of the shoot by drafting a great committee who all stepped up to the plate at various times through the year to deliver a great 10th anniversary program, a super mentor program launch/speed matching event, our group meetings and activities and of course the grad night. Janice, as our leader, was a great planner, organizer, and coordinator and always recognized those involved with our successes along the way
Some comments from mentors

Rookie of the Year - This award recognizes a new member who has provided outstanding service that has significantly improved value to our members
Melissa Waegner’s name needs to be next to the definition of this award. She has gone beyond what was minimally required for a nomination. Melissa jumped into membership and volunteering headfirst and immediately became a very integral part of the YTTL committee. She initially took on the role of conference coordinator and was going to serve as a sort of helper on as-needed basis. That quickly changed as she was full of really great ideas, always jumped up to do things, always followed through, and always did exactly what she said she would do and then some. Additionally where there was slack she pulled it up and fixed what was needed to bring the committee up to its fullest potential.
Volunteer of the Year - This honors a member who has voluntarily assumed significant responsibility in 2009 and/or who has provided valuable support to a board director.
John Curran joined our chapter in 2009 and has proved himself to be a stellar and invaluable new member. John was instrumental in organizing the Career Checkpoints after the monthly meetings this summer. This is one of ASTD San Diego’s pilot programs, a new value-added service offering for our members in transition. John put together and revised the format for this program, recruited a talented group of individuals to support and to be Career Advisors and promoted these events. He also mentored job seekers at the event.
John is also a regular attendee, supporter, and promoter of our Monthly Meet & Mingles and chapter programs. He has stepped up to help out with registration at our monthly meetings and has been a forward thinker by providing feedback, advice, new ideas and support to various chapter leaders.
